Not so much a Zoom session, more a virtual Dance Hall, in which choreographer Tim Casson and poet Dean Parkin partnered up to combine words and movement in surprising new ways.
If you had told me it was possible to dance to words like ‘supine’ and ‘fiddly’ I’m not sure how I would have reacted – but I don’t think I would have rushed to get my dancing shoes.
And yet … on Monday, 29th March, poet Dean and choreographer Tim inspired a group of us to do just that.
Starting with some simple words and actions, we built them up into phrases about how the music made us feel (a teenager again) and what we did (kicked the mat to one side).
Before we knew it, we were out of our chairs and boogieing along, copying each other’s moves and adding more of our own.
People swirled, twirled and generally had a great time – and all via Zoom in the safety of their own rooms; the only thing missing was a glitter ball.
